Photos needed for new Bay Village city website: West Shore Chatter

Lake Erie

The City of Bay Village is seeking photos of notable scenes in the city for use on its new website. Budding photographers are invited to submit their pictures of local scenes, like this wintertime Lake Erie shot, for consideration. Deadline is Jan. 31. (Carol Kovach, special to cleveland.com)

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- Lake Erie, which is Bay Village’s northern border, provides some amazing scenery throughout the year. The sunsets, sailboats dotting the water, angry waves, swimmers, sunbathers and flocks of birds along the shoreline are among the sights and photo opportunities.

The city also is filled with interesting buildings, including century homes, lakefront mansions, a historic cemetery and more.

As city officials work on a new website, they want to incorporate photos of iconic Bay Village scenes. But they need help from local photographers.

They’re asking anyone with photos they think would look good on the new website to share them with Kathryn Kerber at City Hall. The images should be emailed to kkerber@cityofbayvillage.com. They are looking for a total of 10 to 12 images to start.

Submitted photos must be:

· Original photos taken by the person submitting them

· Each submission should be up to five photos

· Image files should be at least 1 MB or 300 dpi

· Photos should not include identifiable people

· Photos will be used without credit or compensation on the website at the city’s discretion

· Submissions are due by Jan. 31

Officials said they are working on a way to recognize photographers for the selected images.
